About Llandysul Angling Association
Llandysul Angling Association has fishing on about 30 miles of the River Teifi in West Wales, from the Cellan area through Lampeter, Llanybydder, Maesycrugiau, Llandysul, Pentrecwrt and Henllan to the Newcastle Emlyn area. It lists its beats in four sections: Section A at Cellan, Section B from Lampeter to Llanybydder, Section C at Llandysul and Section D from Pentrecwrt to Llandyfriog. The association says the upper reaches are smaller and more intimate and the lower reaches wider and more open, with salmon, sea trout (sewin), brown trout and grayling.
Day and week permits are sold to visitors through the season. In 2026 a day permit is £25 and a week permit £75, bought online through FishPal or in person at The Porth Hotel in Llandysul. There is also a trout only, fly only, catch and release permit for Beat 9 and upstream, at £10 a day until 30 June or £60 for the season. Membership in 2026 is £155 for an adult and £78 at pensioner rate, with a full adult membership including one free junior permit.
The association describes itself as very conservation minded. Bait fishing is banned on its water, except for disabled anglers at the platform on Beat 12, and treble hooks are not allowed. Salmon, brown trout and grayling must be returned, and the club’s byelaws set limits for sea trout. Brown trout fishing opens on 3 March above Lampeter Bridge and on 1 April below it, and closes on 30 September; the salmon and sea trout season runs from 1 April to 17 October. The association does not publish which bank each beat is on, so check its map of the water before you fish.
