About Newport Reservoirs Fly Fishing Association
Newport Reservoirs Fly Fishing Association (NRFFA) manages the Ynys-y-fro Reservoirs just outside Newport, two stocked trout lakes of 16 and 9 acres. It describes the water as prolific fly life, with buzzers, sedges, silverhorns, damsels and cranefly, and has two boats on the lower reservoir for members and their guests. The reservoirs are open 365 days a year.
Visitors can buy a day ticket in the hut, where there is also a self service card machine. In 2026 a non-member ticket is £23 for one fish to take or £27 for two, and a junior ticket is £7. A child under 16, or under 18 in full time education, can also fish free with a paying adult on a shared ticket.
Membership is £40 plus a £15 joining fee. New members are taken from a waiting list, and the 2027 list is open through a form on the association’s join page. Members then buy a season ticket, £285 for 30 fish to take, or cheaper member day tickets.
