About Pembrokeshire Anglers Association
Pembrokeshire Anglers Association is a long established fishing association that owns and leases approximately 15 miles of fishing on the Western Cleddau and its tributaries, and also has beats on the Eastern Cleddau. The Western Cleddau waters stretch from the fast flowing upper reaches to the tidal water above Haverfordwest. On the Eastern Cleddau the association fishes single bank upstream of the bridge at Llawhaden, and it has leased a further stretch near Gelli. The main river is renowned for its excellent run of migratory fish, and the water fishes for sewin, salmon and wild brown trout. The association describes the Cleddau catchment as a protected site that is home to otters, kingfishers, herons, duck and dragonflies.
All the association’s waters are open to visiting anglers on day or weekly permits. They are sold at County Sports, 3 Old Bridge, Haverfordwest, and the association’s website has a page for buying permits online. An adult day permit is £15 and an adult weekly permit £45, with youth (16 to 20) permits at £7.50 a day and £20 a week, and juniors under 16 fish free. Season permits are £75 for an adult and £20 for a youth, and full season membership is open to all, by application form. The season runs from 1 April to 17 October. All legal methods are allowed, including fly, spinning, worm and prawn, but not maggot, groundbait of any sort, or fish food pellets or boilies; from 8 to 17 October fishing is catch and release only and worm and prawn may not be used.
The association also has a purpose-built pool, fishing platform and lodge at its angling centre in Treffgarne for disabled anglers, and the lodge can be booked by organised parties. The water is also sold through the Fishing Passport, and a Natural Resources Wales rod licence is needed.
