About Corwen and District Angling Club
Corwen and District Angling Club describes itself as the largest single game angling concern on the Welsh Dee, with over 16 miles of river fishing for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling. Its beats on the Dee run from above Cynwyd, through Corwen and Carrog, to Glyndyfrdwy, and the club also fishes the Alwen and the Ceirw, two tributaries that suit wild brown trout. It says it has some of the best grayling fishing in the UK and that the Corwen beats are famous across Europe. The club also fishes the Ceiriog and has further Dee water downstream, which is outside Denbighshire and not shown here.
This is a members’ club and it does not sell day tickets. The club’s 2026 rates for new members are £160 for adult salmon membership, which includes trout and grayling, or £100 for adult trout and grayling membership, each with a £70 joining fee. The joining fee is paid in the first year only and there is none for the spouse of a current member. Junior salmon membership is £55 and junior trout and grayling membership is free, up to and including age 18. New members must attend the club’s annual open day to learn the ways in, parking and boundaries. Each member also gets two free guest tickets a season, booked through the membership secretary before the guest fishes, and a member must stay with a guest on the same beat.
All salmon are returned, and salmon and sea trout catches must be reported within seven days. A Natural Resources Wales rod licence is needed.
