About Pheasant Tail Fly Fishers
Pheasant Tail Fly Fishers is a small private fly fishing club, established in 1955, with an average membership of around 25. It fishes for wild brown trout and grayling on the River Clun near Craven Arms in Shropshire, where it has three beats of about four miles, mainly double bank, with smaller beats on the Kemp and the Redlake. The club also has four beats of about four miles on the River Lugg around Presteigne on the Welsh border.
The club describes high water quality, very good natural fly life and excellent mayfly hatches. It puts the average trout at 6 to 10 inches, with grayling slightly larger, and says that over the past two years its rods have averaged over six fish a visit. Members who want to be more involved with the rivers can join the voluntary work parties and the annual general meeting.
