About Teifi Trout Association
The Teifi Trout Association was founded in 1925 and looks after fishing on the lower River Teifi in West Wales. It says its water begins just above the tidal limit and extends some 30 miles upstream, where the angler can expect salmon and sea trout (sewin) fresh off the tide as well as wild brown trout. The waters page divides it into five beats: A at Llechryd and Newbridge, B at Cenarth, C at Newcastle Emlyn, D from Newcastle Emlyn Bridge to Pentrecagal and E at Bangor Teifi.
Permits for non-members are sold for the season, the week and the day. In 2026 a daily permit is £30 until 31 August and £35 from 1 September, and a weekly permit is £80 until 31 August and £100 from 1 September. A full season permit is £185, £110 for OAP or disabled anglers, £25 for a student and £10 for a junior, and a junior daily permit is £3. Permits are sold on the association’s website through PayPal and at the Salmon Leap in Cenarth, Castaways in Cardigan and the Afon Teifi Caravan Park at Pentrecagal. Membership is not sold online: write to the secretary or use the contact page.
The association says it would like to avoid a total catch and release policy on its water and asks visiting anglers to read its fish conservation strategy. Its bye-laws and the Natural Resources Wales bye-laws both apply.
