About Sharpley Springs Fly Lakes
The fly lakes at Sharpley Springs are spring fed water on a working farm near Seaham. The fishery’s rules say all brown trout must be returned, and the page does not name the lakes or give their size.
Fishing is fly only, with barbless hooks, a maximum of three hooks on a line and one rod per angler. Eggs, boobies, wagglers, rubber or plastic lures and bait additives are banned, and so are buoyant flies fished on sinking lines. Wading and dogs are not allowed. Anglers sign on and off in the catch returns book at the Fisherman’s Lodge.
On a killing ticket the first fish must be killed and you can then take up to the bag limit, after which everything is returned. A full day with three fish is £30. Sporting tickets are catch and release only, from £16 for four hours to £25 for a full day.
