About Essex Fly Fishers’ Club
Essex Fly Fishers’ Club is a members only trout fly fishing club, established in 1966, with two lakes of about 16 acres each, Lodge Lake and Lavender Lake, near Great Leighs in Essex. The lakes are stocked with rainbow trout and some brown trout, which members must return. Members fish from the bank or from rowing boats, and the club keeps its numbers low so that each angler can roam a chosen lake without crowding.
The summer season runs from 1 March to 31 October. The club also fishes a winter period, from 1 November to mid February, when the landowner’s annual permission allows it. Members pay a subscription that comes with 24 fishing tickets, and the club’s rates page gives the 2027 subscription as £645, with a £30 joining fee for new members. New members join from a waiting list, using the application form on the club’s website.
