About Lavender Lake
Lavender Lake is one of the two lakes of about 16 acres at the Leez Lakes near Great Leighs, the water of Essex Fly Fishers’ Club. Mature trees along its northern side give some shelter from northerly winds for anglers in boats, and the westerly and southerly banks are grassy. The club says the lake has abundant insect life, particularly in summer and autumn, and that bank anglers can reach the shoreline at a number of points all the way round. It suggests the shallower westerly corners for anglers stalking the brown trout. A short slip road lets members drive to a parking area close to the lake.
The lakes are regularly stocked with rainbow trout and occasionally brown trout, and members must return the browns. Rowing boats are available on the lake for £6 a session. This is members’ water, with new members joining from a waiting list. The position shown is approximate.
