About Glamorgan Anglers Club
Glamorgan Anglers Club Ltd is a Cardiff club dating back to 1904, which the club counts among the oldest in Wales. It runs ponds and lakes for coarse fishing, but it also holds river water through the city, and this listing covers its game fishing on two rivers only: the River Taff, from Canton Bridge to one field above the M4 crossing, and the River Ely, from the first field outside Fairwater on past St Fagans.
The club describes the Taff as popular with game anglers fishing for salmon and sea trout and with fly fishers after brown trout and grayling. Members may fly fish for non-migratory trout and grayling in the river close season on a coarse licence, with every fish returned. Salmon and sea trout need a club game permit as well as a Natural Resources Wales game rod licence, and all salmon, sea trout and brown trout are returned to the water.
The club’s facilities are for members only, with no day tickets or visitors. Its membership page lists Taff only memberships alongside the full ones, and a senior Taff only membership with fly fishing is £72, or £92 with game and coarse, on top of a £15 joining fee for new members. Membership years start on 1 April, joining is online, and every member needs a current Natural Resources Wales rod licence.
