About the River Taff

The River Taff, Afon Taf in Welsh, runs about 42 miles from the Brecon Beacons to Cardiff Bay. It begins as two rivers, the Taf Fawr and the Taf Fechan, which meet at Cefn-coed-y-cymmer just north of Merthyr Tydfil. From there it flows south past Abercynon, Pontypridd and Taff’s Well, taking in the Cynon, the Rhondda and the Taff Bargoed on the way, before it runs through the middle of Cardiff and out into the bay.
