About Taff Bargoed Angling Association
Taff Bargoed Angling Association fishes the lakes in Taff Bargoed Park at Trelewis, near Treharris, and two stretches of the River Taff. The club describes the park lakes as over eleven acres of water in all, with a snack bar, toilets and disabled parking in the park, and says the Taff stretches hold wild brown trout and rainbows. The Fishing Passport describes the lakes as a top lake of about four acres and a bottom lake of about one acre, so the two sources disagree on size.
Annual permits on the club’s tickets page are £70 for adults, £60 for over 65s and the disabled and £30 for juniors, renewed each 1 March, with a fishing lodge in the park open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 11.30am and a second outlet at Treharris Sportsgear. Members take up to six fish a week and three a day, fishing the lakes with fly or worm and no spinning, and the club asks members to return wild brown trout where possible and always from October to March. Day tickets for the lakes and for the Fiddlers Elbow to Abercynon stretch of the Taff are sold through the Fishing Passport. A rod licence is needed.
