About Cray Reservoir
Cray Reservoir is a small upland reservoir near Sennybridge in the Brecon Beacons National Park, owned by Cnewr Estate. The estate describes it as a beautiful and unspoilt place to fish for wild brown trout, with easy reach of the banks and about 3 km of shoreline. You can drive down from the A4067 to the path that runs alongside the reservoir. It was built to supply Swansea with water, finished in 1906, and still supplies the Tawe valley.
The season runs from 1 April to 30 September and the fishing is fly only, from dawn to dusk. There are no boats or flotation devices. A day permit is £15 in 2026, paid on the day at Cnewr Farm, where the estate asks for your name, car registration and the date. You may keep at most 3 fish and return the rest, and the estate asks you to keep a record of your catch and send it to Cnewr. Guests staying in the estate’s holiday cottage and farmhouse can ask for complimentary permits. The position shown is approximate.
