About Elinor Trout Fishery Lake
Elinor is a 50 acre spring fed limestone lake at Aldwincle, with one and a half miles of bank to fish and a fleet of fifteen foot boats. The fishery is fly fishing only and is stocked most weeks with rainbow and brown trout. Its fishery map names the better known spots, among them the Dam, Overflow Corner, Brookside Point, East Arm, Pylon Point, the Lagoon, Goodfellow Bay and Pensioners Point.
The 2026 season runs from 14 February to 31 July and from 1 September to 31 December, with the fishery closed in August and bank fishing in January open to season ticket holders only. Day tickets are priced by fish limit: six fish plus catch and release at £37, four fish plus catch and release at £31 (£29 for juniors and concessions), two fish on a half day at £23, a sunset ticket for one fish at £12, and catch and release at £25 for the day or £18 for a half day. Fish of 5lb or more and all brown trout must be released.
Bank fishing needs no advance booking. Boats are best booked on 01832 720786 or by email, and they are £12 a day for two anglers or £9 for one, £8 or £6 for a half day. The fishery does not supply engines, though anglers may bring their own electric outboard. Float tubes can be launched for £5 a day or £3 in the evening. Tickets are paid for on the day by cash or bank transfer, with no card facility. Season tickets are £611 for the bank and £805 or £757 for a boat, each with a 75 fish limit.
