About River Tees, Tees South, Barnard Castle to Manyfold Beck
This is Tees South, Darlington Fly Fishers Club’s beat on the Yorkshire bank of the River Tees below Barnard Castle. The club says it runs from the Riverview Leisure Park at Barnard Castle to about 300 metres east of Manyfold Beck, near the bend in the river by North Park Cottage on Mortham Lane. The section near Abbey Bridge is hard to reach because of a sheer cliff face, while the lower section is reached more easily from the public footpath. Wading is possible on the downstream section, but further up there are some very deep pools, so take care.
The club fishes by artificial fly only for wild brown trout and grayling, with the possibility of migratory fish on the Tees. It is members only. Membership is limited to about 40 rods and costs £135 a year. The position shown is approximate. Parking and entry details are kept in the club’s members area.
