About Welsh Water at Llyn Brenig
Welsh Water (Dŵr Cymru) sells the fishing at five of its upland reservoirs from the Llyn Brenig visitor centre near Cerrigydrudion: Llyn Brenig and Llyn Aled Uchaf, which are stocked with trout, Llyn Aled Isaf and Cronfa Alwen, which are not stocked and are fly and coarse, catch and release, and Llyn Cowlyd, an unstocked trout water above Dolgarrog.
The 2026 price list has a full day on Llyn Brenig at £28.50 and on Llyn Aled Uchaf at £23, a day on Cronfa Alwen and Llyn Aled Isaf at £16 and a day on Llyn Cowlyd at £17.50. Season tickets are £425 for Llyn Brenig and Llyn Aled Uchaf, which also covers Cronfa Alwen and Llyn Aled Isaf, £66 for Cronfa Alwen and Llyn Aled Isaf and £70 for Llyn Cowlyd. Permits are booked online, at the fishing shop or from the permit machines in the car park, and parking at the visitor centre is included with a fishing permit.
A Natural Resources Wales rod licence is needed. Each reservoir has its own rules, set out on its page.
