About Carno Brook, Caersws Angling Association
The Carno Brook is one of Caersws Angling Association’s two wilderness brooks. The association describes it as an unstocked fishery between Caersws and Pontdolgoch, fly only, with barbless hooks and catch and release. It does not say where the water starts and ends, so there is no map position for it here.
At Wig Lane and Maesteg the association’s rules add conditions for the landowners: fish the left bank only, looking downstream, use the stiles provided, with only 20 feet of bank used to reach the water, no dogs, no fires, barbecues or camping, do not enter or cross Bryn Derwen land, and do not interfere with farm stock. Do not park in Wig Lane or the drives to Wig or Maesteg: parking is in the gated compound after the Wig railway crossing, by permission of the landowner. At Dolerw, Pontdolgoch, do not park in the farm driveway or at the farm, and use the layby on the main road.
Season ticket holders fish it. The association’s pages do not say whether a £22 day ticket covers the brooks, so ask the secretary before you travel.
