About Chigborough Farm Fly Lakes
The fly fishing at Chigborough Farm is on two lakes, Home Water and Rook Hall, which the fishery puts at about 30 acres between them. It sits on a 130 acre farm on the outskirts of Maldon, a short distance from the Blackwater Estuary. The lakes are stocked with trout from Norfolk.
The trout season runs from 1 November to the end of June, with both lakes stocked monthly. Home Water is closed to fly fishing from July to October. Rook Hall is deeper and stays open through the summer, but the fishery says how it fishes then depends very much on the weather. Home Water is also fished for big catfish from 1 April to 31 October.
These are day tickets, booked online in advance, with no membership. Once you have booked you can turn up at your allotted time and fish either lake. Toilets are in the lodge by the trout lake.
