About Clay Lane Farm Trout Fishery Lake
Clay Lane Farm Trout Fishery is a two acre, spring fed lake at Mobberley, in the middle of Cheshire between Knutsford and Alderley Edge. The fishery calls it a private and secluded lake in a quiet backwater, and says it is renowned for the quality and variety of its trout: brown, rainbow, golden, blue, brook and tiger.
The fishery says fly life is abundant and that trout take a range of methods, from dry and wet flies to buzzers and lures. The water is deep in parts but is usually fished with a floating line. Fish are stocked regularly, and the lake is open every day, from 7am until dusk in summer and 8am until dusk in winter.
Tickets run from three hours to a full day, some including fish and some as sport tickets, and sporting tickets are charged by the hour with a two hour minimum. Children under 12 fish free on a sporting ticket with a fishing adult. A qualified GAIA fly fishing instructor offers tuition to beginners and improvers. The fishery is directly off the B5085 Knutsford to Alderley Edge road, and the lane runs to the end where the lodge and parking are.
