About Crickhowell and District Angling Society
Crickhowell and District Angling Society was formed in the early 1970s to provide fishing for the residents of the Crickhowell and Abergavenny area. Since 1975 it has been buying fishing rights as they become available, and it now owns outright a variety of beats on the middle Usk and describes itself as one of the largest fishery owners in the Usk catchment. It runs about nine miles of the River Usk between Crickhowell and the town of Usk. This listing shows its two beats near Crickhowell; its Abergavenny and Gobion beats are further down the river.
Fishing is for members only. The society considers applications for new members all year round. Membership runs from February to February: full membership is £125 a season with a £125 joining fee, the subscription drops to £95 for members over 65 after two years, and juniors join free. To apply, use the form on the society’s Join Us page. Members can take guests fishing under a guest ticket scheme.
The society says its water is mostly fished for trout and salmon, and that the trout fishing is exceptional with notable hatches for the dry fly angler. Sewin are in the river but hardly fished for. All members must use barbless hooks, may keep no more than two brown trout a day, and file a catch return each year.
