About River Usk, Abergavenny beats
These are Crickhowell and District Angling Society’s Abergavenny beats, just west of Abergavenny and upstream of Myther Bridge, which links Abergavenny with Llanfoist. There are two fisheries: Red Barn on the north bank, about 1.5 km, and Cadfor Farm on the south bank, about 500m.
The society names eleven spots along the beats, among them the Barrels, Top Pipe, Monument, Croy Pool, Cottage Pool, Lucky Pool and the Lower Flats. It describes Top Pipe as a strong salmon and sewin pool, fishable from the Cadfor side only, and the Croy Pool as very productive, with hotspots just above the croy and 10 to 20 yards below it.
Fishing is for society members only. The society’s pages do not give exact limits, so the position shown is approximate.
