About River Usk, Crickhowell beats
These are Crickhowell and District Angling Society’s beats at Crickhowell: the Legar, Glan y Afon and Bullpit Meadow, within walking distance of the town. The society says they make a good day out with a pint in the nearby pubs. The Bridge Pool is described as the society’s most productive pool, with fish lying in the V at the tail, especially when they are running, and below it are a fly run and a few deeper holes under the right bank. Most fish in the Bridge Pool are taken on a spinner cast up to the sill.
Fishing is for society members only. The society’s pages describe the pools rather than where each beat starts and ends, so the position shown is approximate. Senior members may fish Bullpit Meadow but priority goes to junior members, and no more than five rods may fish the Llangattock side of the Bridge Pool at one time.
