About River Usk, Glangrwyne beats
These are Crickhowell and District Angling Society’s Glangrwyne beats: Glangrwyne Court, Llanwenarth and the River Grwyne. Glangrwyne is a small village about half way between Crickhowell and Abergavenny. The society describes seven pools on the Usk here, among them the Wires, the Upper and Lower Bridge Pools, the Canal Pool, the Wall Pool, the Rock Pool and the Confluence Run, most of them good fly water, and the Canal Pool is noted for a summer evening sea trout and salmon tight to the far bank.
Fishing is for society members only. On the River Grwyne, salmon and trout fishing ceases on 30 September each year. The society describes the pools rather than where each beat starts and ends, so the position shown is approximate.
