About the River Lune (Tees)
The River Lune in Teesdale is a small tributary of the River Tees in County Durham. It runs down Lunedale, where Selset Reservoir sits on its upper course, and joins the Tees just east of Middleton-in-Teesdale. It is not the River Lune in Lancashire, which is a much larger river with its own page.
Below the reservoir the Lune is a small, fast stream, tree lined for much of its length and crossed by a railway viaduct. It has good numbers of brown trout and grayling, and an occasional salmon. The fishing is pocket water and small pools, and it can rise quickly after rain.
Clubs and an estate hold the water, and some stretches are fly and worm only.
Check the details for the stretch you plan to fish.
