The exact stretch isn't published: it's arranged directly with the fishery once you've booked to stay.
The quarry is Pike, Brown Trout, Sea Trout, Salmon. Spring brings good fly hatches and a chance at one of the beat's big resident brown trout, with a good run of salmon and sea trout through the season and sea trout running into double figures. Salmon can reach real size too: the keeper recalls one of 34lb 12oz seen many years ago on a beat just a few yards upstream, a measure of what the river has produced rather than a promise for your visit. Winter brings pike and perch on the fly once the main seasons close.
Brown trout run 1 April to 15 October, sea trout to 31 October, and salmon 1 March to 31 August. Any fly method suited to the quarry is allowed, hooks must be barbless, and every fish is returned, fishing dawn until an hour after sunset with a valid EA rod licence and a knotless landing net. This isn't sold as a day ticket: it's reserved for accommodation guests staying a full week, with up to three anglers fishing free on the Thursday of their stay.
