About Halliford Mere Lakes
Halliford Mere is a complex of four spring fed lakes totalling some 15 acres at Shepperton, fished for trout since 1986. The fly fishing lakes are stocked about every two weeks, weather permitting, with rainbows from 2lb to 10lb and a small share of browns and blues, and the fishery says most of its fish have been in the water long enough to lose their farm fat and fight hard. Lake 4 is fished for pike and perch by prior arrangement.
The fishery is primarily catch and release, fly only with barbless hooks. You may take up to two rainbow trout in a session, weighed by the staff and charged at £5 a pound over and above your ticket. All brown trout and coarse fish go back. Day tickets are bought in advance and there is an annual membership. The fishery opens from October to June, depending on water temperature.
The lakes are on Chertsey Road in Shepperton, an hour by train from London Waterloo.
