About Llandegla Fly Pools
Llandegla Fishery’s fly water is two trout pools of about an acre each, fed by the Alyn Beck, which comes off Llandegla Moor at the top of the fishery. The water runs from gin clear to a tea brown depending on temperature and rainfall, and the fishery says fly fishing is especially popular through the winter. The pools are stocked on a regular basis with rainbow, brown, tiger, gold and blue trout, and the fishery says fish run up to 15lb. There is also a natural stock of rudd that will take a dry fly. Two disabled pegs are available.
Tickets are sold by the length of the session and by the number of fish. Catch and release is £12.50 for two hours, £16 for three, £19 for four, £25 for six and £30 for eight hours. Fish taking tickets run dawn till dusk, at £16 for one fish in two hours, £21 for one fish in four hours, £25.50 for two fish in four hours, £29 for two fish in six hours, £35 for three fish in eight hours and £45 for four fish all day. Once the bag is reached you can carry on catch and release. There is no selective fishing, so the first fish you catch are the ones you keep, and all brown trout, tiger trout and sparctics are returned, with any fish over 4lb. Concession rates are shown on the fishery’s leaflet.
Fishing is fly only with barbless hooks, and no blades, boobies or swivels. A landing net is compulsory, and under 16s fish with an adult. Pay at the café before fishing. The position shown is approximate.
