About Llyn Maes y Clawdd
Llyn Maes y Clawdd is a small lake near Bala stocked with rainbow and blue trout, with some brown trout as well. It belongs to Bala and District Angling Association, which stocks it monthly from April to September around the 20th of the month, weather permitting. It is open from March to December and closed in January and February.
The lake is for season ticket holders, including block tickets. Blue badge holders can fish it on a day ticket, and season ticket holders can use a guest ticket option that lets a full member buy a day ticket for a friend a limited number of times a year. Fishing is fly only with a two fish limit a day, and after that it may be catch and release up to a maximum of 10 fish. Brown trout and gold trout must be returned.
Landing nets must be used, catch returns must be filled in and fish must not be cleaned or gutted on site. Cattle graze the field, so vehicles are parked at their ownersโ risk, and the club asks you to park only in the marked area. The lake suits disabled anglers. The 2026 season permit is ยฃ90 for a local senior and ยฃ100 for a non-resident senior, and the position shown is approximate and taken from the clubโs own map.
