About Llynfi Dulas Middle
The Llynfi and its tributary, the Llynfi Dulas, have many of the characteristics of Usk streams, running red when in flood for example. The Passport says these small streams hold one of the highest densities of trout of the Wye tributaries, with plenty of fish over a pound, and a spectacular mayfly hatch. The Passport says there are over four miles of fishing on the Llynfi and Llynfi Dulas through the Wild Streams. Stealth is needed to fish them well.
The middle Llynfi Dulas beat is over a mile of single bank from Tregunter Farm up to the Pont-y-Bat bridge. It can be fished in thigh waders, but chest waders are really needed to get the best from it. The Passport warns about the pool where the Triffrwd Brook joins, which is deep and shadowy. It suggests a rod of six and a half to seven and a half feet rated 2 to 4 weight.
It is fly fishing only, the limit is two trout per rod, and any trout under 9 inches must be returned. Dogs are not allowed. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
