About Middle Bran

Middle Bran is a right bank only beat on the Bran, a tributary that flows south off the Epynt before entering the Usk just below Aberbran Bridge. The beat starts around a mile upstream of the confluence and holds a good head of wild brown trout. The stream is a combination of bedrock channels, gravel beds and riffles with some deeper pools along its length. The Passport describes good wading, ideal for trout anglers working quietly upstream, and suggests a rod of 6.5 to 7.5 feet rated 1 to 4 weight.
