About Otby Trout Lake
Otby Lake is a six acre stream fed lake in the Lincolnshire Wolds, which Otby Farms stocks with rainbow and brown trout. The farm says both grow to impressive sizes, and that anglers can fish from the bank or from a small boat moored on the long jetty.
Fishing is fly only with barbless hooks, and the farm strongly encourages knotless landing nets. Lures are discouraged and trolling is not allowed. Brown and rainbow trout under 14 inches are returned unless damaged or distressed, and only rainbows over 14 inches may be taken. The farm suggests that a maximum of 8 fish caught and released in a day makes a good day. Every catch, including fish returned, goes in the record book in the fishermen’s hut, and visitors who catch nothing still record their visit.
Bookings are made in advance through Go Catch. From 6pm the lake is for Otby Lake Boat House guests, so day anglers leave then unless the board in the fishermen’s hut extends the hours. Bank fishing is not permitted between the car park and the Boat House, and the jetty beside the Boat House is for its guests. Dogs are not allowed. The position shown is approximate.
