About Tringford Reservoir
Tringford Reservoir is part of the Tring Reservoirs complex and the only part of it fished for trout. At full capacity it covers 26 acres of clear water fed by a chalk stream and underwater springs, with depths averaging 4 to 10 feet and reaching about 15 feet when levels peak. Levels rise and fall through the year because the reservoirs feed the local canal. Tringford Trout Fishery stocks it regularly through the season with rainbow and brown trout.
Fishing is fly only with barbless hooks, from designated areas on the bank or from one of several row boats. Knee high wading is allowed in designated areas. A day ticket is £40 with boat hire included, and it is booked in advance by phone. The fishery is a 6 fish catch limit water: you may keep 1 rainbow trout and every brown trout must be returned. Full and half season tickets are £520 for 34 visits and £370 for 17 visits in 2026, and members can bring guests for £20 a day.
Anglers over 12 need an Environment Agency rod licence. Night fishing is not allowed, and dogs must be kept on a lead.
