About Upper Grywne Fawr
Upper Grywne Fawr is a remote stretch of the Grywne Fawr, a tributary of the Usk, which the Passport describes as prime wild brown trout fishing. The river here flows mainly over bedrock, so there is a good diversity of features. Wading is tough in places and the rocks are slippery, so studded soles are a must. The Passport suggests a rod of 7 to 8 feet rated 3 to 4 weight.
It is fly fishing only and one trout may be taken per rod. Dogs are not allowed. It is a one rod only beat for Wild Stream permit holders. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
