About Withern Mill Trout Farm Lakes
Withern Mill Trout Farm has five fly fishing lakes at Withern, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The farm describes them as intelligently designed to give a novice or an experienced angler a varied day, and says they are regularly stocked with rainbow and blue trout from 2lb to 10lb, with some bigger fish added through the year.
Day tickets in 2026 are £22 for a catch and release day, and £25, £30, £35 and £45 for one, two, four and six fish. Children under 13 may fish with an adult on a shared four fish ticket. Fishing is fly only with single barbless hooks, all brown trout must be returned, and so must any trout over 5lb. Snake flies are not allowed on any ticket, and boobies and floating fry may not be used on a catch and release ticket.
Anglers need an Environment Agency rod licence as well as the daily permit. Up to three rods are allowed, but only one may be used at a time. Wading is not allowed.

Fishing rules for Withern Mill Trout Farm Lakes
Anglers must hold a current Environment Agency rod licence as well as the daily permit. All brown trout must be returned, and so must all trout over 5lb. Fly only, using single barbless hooks (conventional hooks are allowed if the barbs are removed). Double, treble and multi hooked flies, flicker spoons and propeller flies are not allowed, and neither is any form of two handed line retrieval. Snake flies are not allowed on any ticket. Buoyant patterns such as boobies and floating fry may not be used on a catch and release permit. Up to three rods are allowed per angler but only one may be used at a time; take rods and bags with you when you move, and do not reserve spots. Land fish with a net, and dispatch fish you keep quickly. Fish to be returned should be handled gently, preferably in the water, and any fish showing signs of bleeding or stress must be killed and counts towards the bag limit. Report to the Mill on arrival, buy a day ticket and fill in the returns book on leaving. Fishing stops 30 minutes before dusk, and daily closing times are on the Mill notice board. Wading is not permitted anywhere on the fishery. Read the farm’s risk assessment before you fish.
