About Llandovery Angling Association
Llandovery Angling Association runs two fisheries on the River Towy, above and below Llandovery. The upper water extends to over seven miles above the town, at least half of it double bank, and runs through rock faced gorges and deep holding pools, among them Dolauhirion, Tairheol and Divlyn. The lower water is over three miles of double bank below the town, ending at Cwmgwyn Farm, which the association describes as classic single handed fly water for sewin with easy, safe wading.
The association also has brown trout fishing on two spate streams, the Bran and the Gwydderig, and a beat on the River Usk at Pantyscallog that is for members only. Sewin can be caught from May, with more fish in July and August, and salmon become more numerous later in the season.
Waters are open on a seasonal, weekly and daily permit basis, and the association says new members are very welcome. Permits are sold at outlets in and around Llandovery that its home page lists, including the Castle Hotel, the Towy Bridge Inn and the Royal Oak at Rhandirmwyn, and season tickets are applied for through the association. Its home page lists prices but gives no year, so none are shown here. Visiting anglers are told there are no vehicle routes to the river on the association’s waters.
