About Llyn Frongoch
Llyn Frongoch is described by the Passport as the jewel in the crown of Aberystwyth Angling Association’s lakes. Two of the club’s caravans overlook it, and their occupiers have the lake to themselves on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Fishing Passport permit holders can fish it on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays only.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and has a good head of brown trout. Imitative patterns and lures seem to be equally effective, and it is fly fishing only. There are four boats moored on the lake, for the club’s boat permit holders or the caravan occupiers. Roadside parking makes it a good choice for anglers who want easy going. Two rainbow trout may be taken a day under the club rules; everything else is returned. A day ticket here is valid for all other Aberystwyth Angling Association waters on that date. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
