About River Witham, Grantham
The Grantham Angling Association Fly Fishing Section fishes the upper River Witham to the north and south of Grantham, in the south west corner of Lincolnshire. The club describes a series of extensive beats, some of them quite challenging and best fished earlier in the season, where tenkara and euro nymphing may work better later on.
The fishing is for wild brown trout and grayling. The club says the water is no longer stocked and is managed as a wild fishery. The trout season runs from 1 April to 29 October, and can be extended to February for grayling only. Fishing is fly only on the designated waters, and catch and release is obligatory with barbless hooks.
The water is for members of the section only, who must also belong to Grantham Angling Association and hold an Environment Agency rod licence. The club does not say where each beat starts and ends, so the position shown is approximate.
