About Hindwell Coombe
Hindwell Coombe is over a mile of the Hindwell Brook, an upper Lugg tributary. The Passport describes a fantastic setting, meandering along the floodplain and shadowed by Wapley Hill. Like Knill, it is easy wading over the gravel riverbed, and it holds its flow even in summer. The beat holds good numbers of wild brown trout, with grayling occasionally showing up in catches too. The Passport suggests a rod of six to seven feet rated 2 to 3 weight.
It is fly fishing only, all species are catch and release, and dogs are not allowed. Two anglers can share the beat on a pre-booked Wild Stream rod booking. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
