About Lord’s Bridge, Churnet, Leek and District Fly Fishing Association
Lord’s Bridge is about three quarters of a mile of the River Churnet in Staffordshire, fished on both banks except for the bottom section, which is right bank only. Most of the fishing is in one stretch opposite the car park near the Rambler’s Retreat in Dimmings Dale. The association gives no start and end points, so the position shown is approximate.
The Churnet here is a small, riffled river in woodland that can be waded, though some banks are high and need care. You can fish the whole length without leaving the river. The association says it has a very good mayfly hatch and plenty of other fly life, and that the trout are wild with bright orange spots, though often smaller than those on the nearby limestone rivers. It lists brown trout and grayling.
This is members’ water, with a waiting list and no day tickets.
