About Upper Dove, Leek and District Fly Fishing Association
This is the association’s water on the upper Dove, about three miles of double bank fishing between Ludwell, the bottom boundary, and Crowdecote, where the current fishing ends upstream. The river forms the boundary between Derbyshire and Staffordshire here, and the position shown is approximate.
The association describes the upper Dove as a smaller, narrower river than the stretch through Dovedale, with few other anglers and the Peak District wildlife for company. It holds brown trout, some of them sizeable, with the largest recent fish at 4lb. The fish are wary, so stealth and patience matter, and some anglers crawl along the bank to get into position. The association suggests a 7 to 8 foot rod, a 3 to 4 weight line and fine tippet that is not too fine.
This is members’ water, with a waiting list and no day tickets.
