About Llwyn On Reservoir
Llwyn On is a 150 acre reservoir, the largest of the Taff reservoirs, and a favourite among local anglers. Fly, spinner and worm fishing are all permitted; Power Bait or anything similar is not. It is one of the Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water reservoirs sold through the Passport.
Rainbows are regularly stocked from Dŵr Cymru’s rearing unit. The Passport says the trout are larger than those caught at Beacons and Cantref, with a record rainbow of over 13lb and a best brown of 10lb 4oz. The reservoir is set in mixed woodland, and there are toilet facilities at the Mountain Centre. Opening hours are 8am until half an hour after sunset or 9pm, whichever is earlier.
All brown trout must be returned alive. It is one rod per angler for trout fishing, and anglers must stop when the catch limit is reached or buy another ticket at the fishery. The minimum size of fish taken is 12 inches, and lead weights from 0.06g (no. 8 shot) to 28.4g (1oz) are prohibited. A child of 13 or younger may fish free with a full fare (6 fish) paying adult, sharing that angler’s bag limit; this applies to one child only. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
