About Llyn Cwmorthin

Llyn Cwmorthin covers 22 acres at about 1,330 feet, between the Moelwyn and Nyth y Gigfran mountains above Tan y Grisiau, and is half an hour’s walk from the village. The association says it holds an abundant head of brown trout and is a popular lake for a couple of hours’ fishing. It fishes well with fly: Zulu or Bibio early in the season, then Hare’s Ear Nymph, Alder and Greenwell’s Glory. In late May and early June there is a very good hatch of the sepia dun, known locally as cogyn, and early morning, dusk and night fishing give the best sport.
