About Llynfi Talgarth
Llynfi Talgarth is about a mile of mixed double and single bank on the River Llynfi near Talgarth, and it now takes in a short section below the bridge by Bronllys Castle. The river here is about the size of the Llynfi Dulas, the tributary that joins from the north towards the lower end of the beat, and for the most part it is true small stream fishing, although the junction pool between the two is quite sizable. The Passport suggests a seven to eight foot rod rated 3 weight.
Wild brown trout are the main quarry and of a good average size for such a small river, but grayling, chub and shoals of perch are present too. The wading is relatively easy along the gravel and silt bed.
It is fly fishing only, all species are catch and release, dogs are not allowed, and an online catch return must be completed after fishing. It is a Wild Stream beat: it is booked through the Fishing Passport, or fished on a Wild Stream Season Permit.
