About Llynnoedd Gamallt

The two Gamallt lakes, the large lake of 24 acres and the small lake of 5 acres, lie at about 1,534 feet in the western part of the Migneint, a 25 minute walk from the parking area. The association says they are presently considered one of the finest wild brown trout fisheries in Wales, and among the best of its waters for wild brown trout. They were limed in 1994 and closed for a few seasons while they recovered from acid rain. Evening and night fishing from mid June gives the best results, and local patterns known as Ffestiniog flies work best. There is a cabin at the top end of the small lake that anglers can use for shelter.
