About Llys-y-frân Reservoir
Llys-y-frân is a Welsh Water reservoir in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains in central Pembrokeshire. The operator regularly stocks it with rainbow trout, and native brown trout may also be caught. It says the fishing is open all year round, from the bank and from its electric powered fishing boats.
From the bank the permitted methods are fly fishing and ledgered worm. Boats are fly fishing only, and the operator describes its boats as simple to operate. To protect resident otters, anchoring of boats and going into sensitive areas are restricted, and the operator’s map shows where.
Permits are fish bag permits. An adult permit is £22 for 2 fish, £28 for 4 fish or £38 for 6 fish. Concessionary and youth permits are cheaper and are listed with the prices. Buy a permit online or at the visitor centre. For seasons, times and the full fishing regulations, the operator asks you to contact the visitor centre or activity centre.
