About River Clywedog, Llanrhaeadr
The club’s beat on the River Clywedog is about 1.5 miles of double bank fishing, except at the upstream limit where the right bank finishes before the left. The banks are tree lined and overgrown in places. The club describes lovely water of pools and runs that suits dry fly, with wild brown trout topped up with stocked fish, and says it holds surprising numbers of migratory fish, so be ready if you fish until dusk. A 4 or 5 weight fly rod is the club’s suggestion.
The beat is reached on foot from Pont Drefechan or from a lay-by and footpath off the A525 between Ruthin and Denbigh. The club’s pages do not give coordinates, so the position shown is approximate.
