About Ystradfellte Reservoir
Ystradfellte is a water storage reservoir on the Afon Dringarth in the Fforest Fawr uplands of the Brecon Beacons National Park, built between 1907 and 1914. Mountain Ash Fly Fishers’ Association has fished it since the late 1980s, says the quality, size and number of fish improve every year, and says catch and release is the norm there.
The club keeps a boat on the reservoir. Members book it beforehand at the lodge at Penderyn Reservoir, and may not just turn up and take it out. Everyone in the boat must wear a buoyancy aid, and the club warns that reaching the moorings is difficult for the less able because of the terrain. This is the club’s water for members. The position shown is approximate.
