About Llangollen Maelor Angling
Llangollen Maelor Angling controls fishing on over 10 miles of the River Dee in and around Llangollen, in a world heritage site and area of outstanding natural beauty. The Dee here is known for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling, and the club says the lower beat also has good coarse fishing for dace, chub, roach and pike. Its beats run in three sections, upper, middle and lower, and its bailiffs are happy to give advice.
This listing shows four stretches that lie in Denbighshire: the upper section above the Horseshoe Falls at Llantysilio, the middle section from the railway bridge to the falls, the town water at Llangollen and the Llandyn to Golf Course water downstream of it. The club’s two lowest beats, Ddol Issa and The Bathers, are further down the valley and are not part of this listing.
The club’s tariff lists a trout and grayling day ticket at £25. Adult membership is £110, membership for 18 to 21 year olds £55 and membership for under 18s is free, and membership runs from 1 January to 31 December. Day tickets can be bought online or from Watkin and Williams in Berwyn Street, Llangollen, Foxons at Mile End Mill, Llangollen, and Corwen Manor Fishing in Corwen. The club has reciprocal ticket arrangements with Midland Fly Fishers and Bala Angling Association. A Natural Resources Wales rod licence is needed.
