About Llangollen Maelor Angling
Llangollen Maelor Angling was founded in 2011 and controls fishing on approximately 10½ miles of the Welsh Dee, in an area of outstanding beauty and world heritage. The river is fed by the headland lakes of Alwen, Brenig, Celyn and Bala, and the Passport calls it one of the purest rivers in Europe. It is renowned for brown trout and grayling and has good runs of salmon and sea trout through the season.
Wading is of mixed difficulty, with buoyancy aids advised and a wading stick essential. Fly fishing only for trout, with a limit of four trout. No dogs are allowed, and the beat is not covered by the wash-off policy.
The ticket on the Passport’s page is a full day winter grayling ticket at £28, with up to four tickets a day. The Passport’s Dee page gives the grayling season as 16 June to 14 March. The club’s own website has the full rules. It is booked through the Fishing Passport.
