About River Dee, Llandyn to the Golf Course
This is the club’s Dee water downstream of Llangollen, taking in the Llandyn, Broken Bridge and Golf Course beats. At Llandyn the club names the Top, Middle and Bottom Rocks, which it rates as very good fly water for salmon, the Sand Hole, good for spinning and bait and for grayling and trout on the dry fly and Czech nymph, Dwy Craig and the Slaughter House Pool, and the run from Gull Stones to the sewage outlet, which it calls very good for grayling and trout on bugs, spiders and dries.
Broken Bridge is described as excellent salmon water, fishable with a fly from the stream to the big bend, and also very good for trout and grayling. The Golf Course beat has the Sun Pool on the big bend, which the club calls a classic salmon pool, the Big and Little Stone, the Long Meadow and the run into Abercregan, and below the Big Stone it is mainly trout and grayling water.
The Golf Course section is fly only for trout and grayling, and no bait fishing for any species is allowed on the Abercregan beat, from the Sun Pool down to Abercregan house pool. Please be considerate to golfers and do not walk across the course. The club’s tariff lists a trout and grayling day ticket at £25 and adult membership at £110. The position shown is approximate.
